The good old days when everything was simple

Thanks for your interest in Luberocks.com.
Lube's web site was created and is maintained using the Unix vi editor (FrontPage is for pussies) and runs on the Linux open source operating system and the Apache open source HTTP server, both worldwide standards for web hosting.
In an effort to ensure compatibility across as many operating systems and web browsers as possible only standard HTML (with server side includes), CGI and Javascript with JPEG, GIF and PNG graphics elements are used. The pages are limited to 600 pixels wide to accomodate those users with lower-resolution displays. The control provided by Cascading Style Sheets was too great to resist however so some older browsers may render pages incorrectly depending on how complete and correct their support for CSS is.
A few band/musical group specific CGI programs have been written in Perl 5 to support the schedule and picture display and contact functions of the site. If you're a local Madison band or a friend of Lube and you'd like these for your site or you want to know how to do it, let us know using the Contact page and we'll see what we can do.
Though any web browser should work fine the site is primarily tested and developed using the open source web browser Firefox (yes, there are other web browsers, Internet Explorer is not the only one). While we're voicing preferences, the developer of the Lube web site recommends Internet and telecommunications infrastructure products from Cisco Systems, the worldwide leader in networking for the Internet. Cisco is the biggest company you've never heard of and whether you know it or not you rely on their products every day. You got to this site and every other site you visited today using something called a Cisco Internet Protocol Router, count on it.
The site was created and is maintained by a Lube behind-the-scenes support person who wishes to remain anonymous. Contrast Lube's musical performances which happen in a club on a stage in front of dancing fans, this person's performance is happening in front of you right now on your computer screen. They would dare say Luberocks.com is the best of the local Madison band web sites (except for maybe SuperTuesday) but since they can't hear you clapping or screaming obscenities right now if you like the site or you think it sucks, send a message using the Contact page and they'll see it.
